February is the month of love, and at CareProvide Canada, love takes the form of dedication, compassion, and connection. For our February Employee Spotlight, we are proud to feature Vivian, a CareProvider who truly embodies these qualities. Inspired by her brother’s career in healthcare and her own experience in customer service, Vivian chose caregiving because she loves getting to know people and hearing their stories. What makes her stand out among our team is her remarkable commitment, living in Kitchener, she travels all the way to Mississauga to support clients, always punctual, accommodating, and attentive to their needs. She is open to feedback, values reminders and clarifications, and strives to improve with every shift. Her dedication, patience, and heart are what make her a perfect choice for this Employee Spotlight.

CareProvider Spotlight

What made you become a caregiver, and how has it changed your view of caring for others?

“I wanted to become a caregiver after seeing my brother studying in the healthcare field for many years and working in customer service for many years myself. I love getting to know people and hearing about their lives and stories of who they were and are.”

Can you share a powerful moment from your caregiving experience?

“Being new to the caregiver role, it takes a while for the clients to open up with a caregiver they just met, but it is worth the time and effort to build a relationship/connection with clients and being treated as a close friend to them.”

What are the biggest challenges caregivers face, and how can we support them better?

“Caregivers can be faced with many challenges such as emotional stress. After working and building a relationship with clients for however long, then later experiencing loss is very difficult. The best support is checking in on the caregivers themselves and giving reassurance.”

How can we make people more aware of the crucial role caregivers play in society?

“With Canada’s aging population growing fairly quickly, we can use social media, policy advocacy, workplace recognition, education in schools/colleges and sharing real life stories to raise awareness of a caregivers’ roles in society.”

What improvements would you like to see in caregiving in the future?

“Added career advancement opportunities, consistent training and standards, support for the caregivers (financial, mental and emotional support, navigation within the healthcare system).”
